Peter Adamson, on his fantastically wonderful podcast History of Philosophy without Any Gaps, has an excellent episode on Plotinus’ understanding of evil. This is a must listen to for those interested in the Early Church since Plotinus’ theory gets adopted and adapted by early Christians and becomes the predominate way they addressed this complicated and pervasive issue. It is also good corrective for those who think that Plotinus (or Platonists in general) thinks that matter is evil. He didn’t and neither did the Early Church. Enjoy!
